General Purpose/Civilian Vehicles


Battalion

A battalion typically consists of 2-6 companies. In some armies these companies may be called squadrons. An Armoured unit is generally tank heavy and a Mechanized Infantry unit is Mech heavy. Both types of unit still have both tanks and IFVs but in the differing proportions indicated.

Platoon

A platoon or troop consists of two, three or four vehicles. In a tank platoon the vehicles will be tanks but in mechanized infantry platoon the vehicle will be armoured personnel carriers (M-113, FV432, MT-LB) or armoured infantry fighting vehicles (M2 Bradley, BMP-1/2/3, Warrior) A platoon is the smallest unit usually commanded by a commissioned officer generally a junior lieutenant.

General Purpose/Civilian Vehicles

The vehilces may be used as general movements vehicles by the military, civilian clutter or may represent a terrorist grouping.
