Scenario started at 5am ZULU. Moved my group of 4 Nanuchkas North...all
contacts neutral. At approximately 7am, I turned the group South, maintained
Passive EMCON status, and broke the group up into 4 individual ships. Ships
maintained a rough East-West line approximately 10 miles across.
8am Detected Stegg...launched 2x SS-N-9 Sirens. Both hit. Sank.
10:13am Oslo detected. Simultaneous launch from both sides. 1 Penguin got
through and sank Nanuchka. Oslo sank after multiple hits.
10:16am Final Nanuchka sunk. Possible launcher was Skunk39...but without
positive ID I could not launch.
POST MISSION EVAL: 1 fishing vessel was sunk... probably by a Siren that

Took a little tour of this classic last nigth, and I think the scenario author has done a
marvellous job of the rebuild.
I played it from the Norwegian side, as I am a Norwegian myself, it is the
side of choice for me.
(I have played the original from both sides countless times).
Now, it is good to see that the Swedish 'Gotenburg' is replaced by an actual
Norwegian wessel. However, more important is the positioning of the oposing
forces. The Norwegian PGM's are moved closer inshore, reflecting more
accurately how these boats would be used, i.e. using the countless small
islands and rocks as ambush positions and as cover while moving into a good
fire positions. Besides, if my memory isn't failing, the Hauk class aren't
capable of more than sea state three.
It is probably harder to win this from the Norwegian side, as the Russian
missiles have considerably longer range. However, this is really down to how you
apply all your hard learned Harpooning skills....;-)
The scenario is still well balanced, but in my view, it has become much
harder to beat, and requires much more of the player in terms of tactics,
planning and application of weapons and sensors.
As a hint, check your EMCON settings before starting the scenario, or you'll
be dead before you know it.
In my view, the rebuilt Dawn Patrol is a real challenge and does deserve
it's label as a Classic. Now, go play;)

Still be hard to win with the merchants
out there. I tend to find it hard to achieve greater than a one for
one ratio. Destroyed 4 Hauk and a Oslo if I recall but not enough to
