Played Mike's new scenario "Crossing Sabres" today. I played the Malaysian side and achieved victory in about two hours playing time. This is a challenging scenario from the Malaysian side because of the short legs of the Fulcrums. I started the scenario by placing several "support" patrols with Fulcrums out about 200nm, these started to immediately give me ESM hits, which I identified using Skyhawks and C-130's! I also placed several Skyhawk patrols along the most probable line of attack on their base and managed to knock down an early ground attack which was aimed at my radar station I'm sure.
The Indonesian Flankers did indeed give me trouble. I did manage however to knock down quite a few with Hornets and suprise, I even got one with a Skyhawk after he had expended all his long range missiles. I finally located the LPD's and escorts. I used Hornets with Harpoons to knock out the escorts, then sank two of the LPD's with Hornets armed with GBU-10's. I killed a third LPD with Mavericks from Skyhawks. The forth I sank with naval gunfire after fighting thru an Indonesian SAG with Exocets and Otomats. I never did get a sniff of any Indonesian sub activity.
Altogether a short, tight, scenario with many varied elements. Thank you Mike.
