This scenario covers the September 1999 UN intervention in Timor. It is playable from both the Intervention Force East Timor (INTERFET) and Militia sides, and your mission is to escort the INTERFET troopships to port or send them to the bottom. The scenario is small and fast-played, but the AI puts up a good fight and victory won't come easily.
I first played it from the INTERFET side. Once the scenario started I plotted courses for my ships that would keep them as close to the troopships as possible, and set speed to full to try to keep up. I launched a Seahawk and a Squirrel helicopter to get an overview, and to identify surface contacts. Four small boats were soon identified as hostile as they closed in on L50 Tobruk and attacked it with 12.7mm MG, but two of them were sunk by Tobruk's own 40mm guns for 2% damage inflicted on the transport. I also nailed two ex-Indonesian patrol boats at long range with Harpoons, and killed off three more patrol boats with 76mm gunfire. Two more Militia boats suddenly showed up as the transports were arriving at their destination, but luckily one of my Anzacs were in the vicinity and sank both with 127mm gunfire. Victory! ...but just barely.
Winning from the Militia side, however, wasn't very difficult :) Although several of my boats were immediately sunk by Australian Harpoons and gunfire as I tried to close in on the INTERFET troopships, two ex-Indonesian patrol craft armed with Exocet missiles sank both troopships with little difficulty. They also scored two Exocet hits on HMAS Adelaide before being sunk themselves in a return SM-1 barrage!
